"THE SOUTH MOUNTAIN SPORTS CAMPUS IS SELECTED FOR THE PRESTIGIOUS RACE"
Continued from front page;
As a coach, O’Sullivan has been given the incredible distinction of Chief Steward of the entire Nova T&F program during the 2022 campaign and has spent the last twenty five years doing the same for his legacy as a coach at Nova Nation as he did as a young competitor. If his name sounds familiar it’s because O’Sullivan has garnered the reputation as being one of only three individuals to ever run more than one hundred sub-four minute miles as a collegiate and as a professional. During his tenure as coach, the ‘Cats’ earned its’ national prominence label bolstered by 15 national champions along with over than 80 All-Americans as well as 170 Big East champions. His teams have also won 10 Championships of the Americas races at the highly regarded Penn Relays, one national championship and five top ten team finishes at national meets O’ Sullivan was the architect. The saavy coach was also named the Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year by the US Cross Country Association along with being named a seven time winner as the Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year. The list of accomplishments for Coach O’Sullivan is long and much too expansive to mention all of them here, but one thing is certain, we are extremely blessed just to have the ability to see this great developer of young talent in person each year when he makes his way to Lehigh University’s South Sports Campus to coach on the South Mountain Campus grounds.
The NCAA X Country Regionals Are Decided In Lower Saucon …(RH)…… 2023
Ybsports Staff Commentary,
Lehigh University hosted the NCAA Cross Country Regional Championships on Friday afternoon on their Goodman’s South Sports Campus and the competition couldn’t have been better. Villanova swept first place in the Men’s and Women’s individual races with Sadie Sigfstead winning the women’s 6K race with a wining time of nineteen minutes and thirty five second. Villanova’s Senior harrier Liam Murphy took the men’s race coming in with a swift twenty nine minutes and five seconds tour around Lehigh’s incredibly beautiful Gold course.. One interesting note observed in both races was the intense competition at the front of both races . Nova’s Sadie Sigfstead had to hold off second place finisher Melissa Riggins of Georgetown nipping her at the tape by one tenth of a second. The men’s race was a battle from start to finish between Nova’s dynamic duo of Liam Murphy and Haftu Strintzos and about twenty other runners. Murphy took the lead at about the 1000meter mark and had to fend off a strong contingent of Princeton and Georgetown runners around the remaining 9K on the course where separation between the cluster of runners (roughly about 15) was never greater than 30 seconds.
