Tarheels Wins Both Men & Women's Gold At Lehigh's Paul Short

. The North Carolina Tarheels swept both big races on Lehigh’s Gold Course on Friday morning to capture the 48 TH Paul Short Cross Country meet. Ranked 13 TH in the nation, Carolina took the men’s title on the strength of a 1-2 finish by Parker Wolfe and Patrick Anderson. Wolfe finished in 23:02 while Anderson crossed the line in 23:04. The Heels 64 points, was good enough to defend their title from last year besting second place Villanova who tallied 100 points. Nova made a tremendous attempt to grab the title from Carolina by putting four harriers in the top ten, but still came up 35 points shy of the Heels. Utah State placed third with 105 points and 17 th ranked Georgetown finished fourth with 138 points. The Duke Blue Devils was the only other team to come in under 200 points with a fifth place finish after totaling 157 points on the day
On the Women’s side The 12 TH ranked Lady Heels took home top honors with 63 points besting a very tough 18 TH ranked Georgetown team who ended up with 67 points and also placed four runners in the top ten. Fifteenth ranked Providence finished in third place with 176 points, while Utah State, who made the most of their long journey to the northeast coming in fourth place with 191 points. Utah Valley rounded out the top five teams with 234 points. . Utah Valley’s Everlyn Kemboi took individual honors finishing with a time of 19:33 but had to out duel Duke’s Amina Maatoug who was right on her heels crossing the line in 19:34. Georgetown’s Maggis Donahue ran a strong 19:37 and finished tied with team mate Chloe Scrimgeour while fellow runner Sammi Corman rounded out the top five with a 19:38 finish.
